outfit #65: pure white

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

A dear reader contacted me recently with a beautiful project. I'd like to share with you a very inspiring text she, Jackie Clark, wrote about cancer and fashion.

"Have you ever noticed that sometimes, wearing the right thing gives you a lift in mood? Do you love how you look when you wear a particular shade of green, or do you have a pair of shoes that give you just the right lift? It can be easy to forget how these things make you feel when you are dealing with doctors and mesothelioma cancer, among others, but now it is time to remember again. Your beauty is a part of you, and it hasn’t gone away. The world wants to push cancer survivors into the niche of the saintly invalid, but if this role has gotten wearisome, it is time to make a change. Fashion is a fantastic tool for striking back and empowering yourself.

Start with your feet. Your feet are tools that take you where you want to go, but you’ll also find that when it comes to fashion, they don’t change that much. You can wear those gorgeous black pumps that have always made you feel like a femme fatale, or you can put on those girlish sandals that bring back all of your favorite summer days. If you are in the mood for something new, look around for some sturdy but fashionable boots that will take you anywhere. Shoes are a fantastic way to remind yourself that you are a woman who is going places.

Another thing that you could do when you are looking to spice up your fashion sense is to go shopping for some new basics. Every woman can use a little black dress, a narrow black skirt and a good looking slim-fit sweater. These are just a few of the basics that can have you delighting in fashion again. They never go out of style and at the end of the day; you are going to find that they can give your wardrobe a whole new lift. A little bit of work with the basics and some time in front of the mirror will remind you that you are a gorgeous woman who should dress to her assets.

If you are in a place where you want to remind yourself that you are beautiful, don’t forget your face. Take a morning or an evening to yourself and sit down in front of your mirror. Play with your lipstick and your blush and your eye makeup; it doesn’t matter if you are going anywhere. Just by going through this old routine, you’ll find that you are in a terrific place recall the good times and to look forward to the good times yet to come.

When you are beautiful, nothing can hide it. Whether you stay in or go out tonight, remind yourself how beautiful you are. Look into the mirror smile and say yes, I am beautiful!"

outfit #64: pastel love

Photobucket

Hello you!

I can't believe two weeks ago it was actually snowing, because the sun is shining since a couple of days! I just love to chill with my friends in the grass, listening to music and enjoying the sun. Those are some 'happy moments'.

This is what I wore! Can't believe I was barelegged in March! And I wore sunglasses!! As you can see, I'm totally in this pastel trend! Love those colors, mint and lilac, together! You will probably see this a lot on the blog in the future. The combination is just so lovely!

Yesterday I went to the Cinematec, it's a movie theater in Brussels where you can see old movies. So, yesterday I saw Laurel & Hardy and I'm planning to see Gone With the Wind next sunday (can you believe I never saw that movie?). My heart stopped to beat a moment when I realized I forgot my phone in the room! Luckily I found it! I'm never that lucky so I was veeeery happy.

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well! Love to you all :). Thanks for your lovely comments and the previous post (except for one person).

Rest in peace

I don' know if you heard, but somethin terribe happened in Belgium. There has been a bus accident in Switserland where 28 Belgian people died, 22 were children...

It is just awful and with this post I would like to do some kind of 'tribute' to them. My heart goes with the parents; it's must be a nightmare for them... I think, nothing is worst than losing a child and now 44 parents lost their kids just like that.

Today is also the National Day of Mourning in Belgium. I must say, everyone here is in shock and you can feel the sad atmosphere. There are even some TV chains that just show a message saying they changed the planning of the TV show to respect the victims.

So, guys, be thankful for your life, because it can be gone in a minute. Let be today a day were you say 'I love you' to your loved ones!

outfit #63: leaving

Hey!

A quick post to tell you that 1) I'm sorry for my lack of posting but I'm reallu busy with uni (papers, presentations, meeting, etc.) wich is REALLY ennoying and 2) I'm leaving for Spain in about 3 hours! I'm going to visit my family in the south east and I am soooo happy to take this break. I really needed it! So you proabably won't hear me until the 14th (I leave for one week), since I decided to don't use my phone, don't go on Facebook (I won't bring my computer with me). Complete disconnection with the virtual world! I need it!

And yes... I also fell for the navajo pants from Zara. But I couldn't leave them for 10 euro, right?! And I love them! If I could, I would wear them all the time! I get lots of compliments when I'm wearing it (my brother was on the phone with a friend and he said "My sister is so stylish, you should see her" haha, cute!). Unfortunately the button is broken, but I don't really care. It can be fixed!

Anyway, hope you're all doing well and I'm so happy you all visit my blog and comment. I love you all!

outfit #62: the beanie

Hey you!

It's been a while, I know, but I needed some time! I hope you're all doing well!

I guess you have noticed that the beanie is totally in this season! I have been wearing beanies since a loooong time and I love them (especially with long hair) for the winter! I have had this pink one from Cos for quit some time and I still wear it over and over again, but never thought of showing it to you! I, of course, fell in love with the color; that bright pink in winter is just so refreshing! I get a lot of compliments when I'm wearing it. So, now, I'm on the hunt of other ones (in green, especially). I know it's getting warmer, but you always need a hat/beanie to cover your head from the rain here in Belgium!

What do you think about this new trend?

And, Oh my God, I totally forgot to tell you that I SUCCEEDED ALL MY EXAMS. I even have a distinction (do we say that?). It's when you have more than a 14 (and I have a 14,7). There were two exams I was afraid of and I had a 12 and 17 for them, haha. Low esteem took over!

sales shopping: the shoes

Photobucket

You might remember how frustrated I was that I couldn't do the sales! I'm a pro in finding bargains! This year, I had already an eye on some stuff and I got most of it at a very attractive price. I bought coats, shoes, shirts, tops, jewelery, pants, etc. for veeeeery cheap prices. Most of the time I got them at -70%, so I couldn't be happier! Two pairs of the shoes (2 & 3) were on my wishlist; both are from Pull&Bear and were out of my budget (70 and 80 euro). I found them in Madrid for 20 euro, ah!

Here is an overview of the shoes I got during the sales:

1) Love at first (and cheap) sight. I saw they were for 15 euro (instead of 32,50) but they were a size smaller. When I tried them, they were just fine! So I bought them. Later that day, I wore them and after an hour my feet were bleeding :p. Now I have to find a way to make them bigger, because they hurt too much. They're tight, but not very very tight, so I think it's still possible to make them a little larger. I'll see.

Marypaz (I think) - 15 euro instead of 32,50 euro

2) I saw those shoes in Brussels for about 80 euro. Real leather and all! Loved them, even if I'm not a fan of the color and the peep toe bothers me a little bit. I saw them in Madrid for 30 euro, but I was hesitating between them and the black one (see below (3)). When I went to the cashier, she told me that the black ones were 20 euro. So I took them too and they were also at 20 euro! 4O euro for two pairs of shoes instead of 150 euro. Crazy, uh?! And they are soooo comfy! Love the wooden heel!

Pull and bear - 20 euro instead of 80 euro

3) I had a big crush on those one (I love Chelsea boots, I want to find also without heel). They were 70 euro, and so out of my budget! During the sales, I went to Pull and Bear and all my favourite sheos were sold out... Big dissapointment! Got them for 20 euro in Madrid, so I was soooo happy. Sometimes it's worth waiting (I would have been soooo mad if I had paid 70 euro and then saw them at 20!)

4) Last but not least! Worst shopping ever in Paris. I only bought these beauties and black pants... They were from a store I really don't like (but I was desperate). When I saw them at 9 euro, I couldn't resist. And they are so COMFORTABLE! Love them and I'm so glad I found them. My friend also took them. And they make such a nice noise when I walk, haha :D!

versace for h&m cruise collection

Photobucket

In my previous post, I told you I won a whole outfit from the Versace for H&M Cruise Collection (worth £125 or €150) thanks to Columbine. I received the package and here is what I think about the collection:

Photobucket

I prefer this collection sooooo much more than the previous one. This one is sweet and cute. The colors and the prints are more my cup of tea! I'm also surprised by the quality of the pieces. The shoes and the belt are made of leather and you can see it's not the usual material that we find in H&M. I love the shape of the dress! The dress is a bit too long but I think it's really wel cut and fit my body well. Love the draping and the asymmetrical touch! The earrings are so Versace (and heavy, haha) but I really love them. They bling bling your outfit in no time!

I really can see myself wearing this in spring and I like the fact that not a lot of my friends know/bought the collection, since it was only available on line! I'm soooo happy that I won, so thanks again Columbine for this amazing giveaway!

outfit #61: paris

Photobucket

I'm back from Paris and it was A-MA-ZING! We stayed at a friend's house (well, apartment)! We arrived friday evening. We went to the apartment where our friend was waiting for us with her girlfriend. We talked an laughed and then they left to Brussels (they stayed at my place!). We wanted to go out, becase we won some tickets to a night club, but my friend fell asleep, haha. Saturday, we did some shopping but I was sooooo dissapointed! I only found a pair of black jeans (that I'm wearing here) and some super comphy black boots (also wearing here). In total: 19 euro, haha! We did everything by foot, so we were so tired afterwards. We went to a house warming party of the neigbours of my friends (kind of funny, we didn't know anyone!). After that, we went to the bar next to the apartment. My Parisien friend decorated the bar, so they offered us some drinks and we met some nice Parisiens. The day after we went to a 'day party' called Concrete. It was a party on a boat, so that was super cool! The entrance was expensive, but it was so worth it! Lots of nice people and some really good music! You can see what I wore on the pictures! We left at 6 pm, because we had to get back to Brussels!
